Metal Braces
Traditional metal braces are the most common and affordable type of braces, effective in treating a wide range of orthodontic issues. Made from high-quality stainless steel, these braces straighten teeth using metal brackets and archwires. You can also personalize your look by adding colorful elastics (ligatures) for a fun, unique smile.
Self-Ligating Braces
Unlike traditional braces that use elastic bands to hold the wire, self-ligating braces feature brackets with built-in clips or doors that secure the wire without rubber bands or metal ties. This design makes the brackets smaller and less noticeable. Plus, they require fewer adjustments, leading to fewer office visits and often a shorter treatment time.
Clear Braces
Clear braces use brackets made from clear or tooth-colored ceramic, allowing them to blend naturally with your teeth. The elastic bands can be matched to the brackets or your tooth color for a subtle look. While clear brackets can sometimes be slightly larger and more abrasive than metal ones, they’re often recommended for the upper teeth to minimize visibility.
Clear Aligners
Clear aligners are a series of custom-made, transparent trays that gently shift teeth into place. Ideal for mild to moderate corrections, these aligners can be changed at home without frequent office visits. They’re removable, so you can take them out to eat, brush, and floss, making oral hygiene easier during treatment.
Lingual Braces
If you want braces but prefer them to be invisible from the front, lingual braces are a great option. Instead of attaching to the front of your teeth, lingual braces are placed on the backsides, making them virtually invisible unless you have widely spaced teeth. They work just as effectively as traditional braces and are worn for similar durations. Lingual braces are especially popular among people who play contact sports or wind instruments since they don’t interfere with lip or mouth movements. They’re also a good choice for those sensitive to plastic who cannot wear clear aligners.
